Introduction of Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET)
The Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) is an examination conducted by Maharaja Sayajirao University for the purpose of determining the eligibility of candidates for recruitment as Asst. Professors in various Universities and Colleges of Gujarat. The exam is normally conducted in the month of October/November every year.

Scheme of test
It is conducted in once every year. The Test will consist of two papers. All the two papers will have only objective type questions of the following forms:
(a) Multiple Choice
(b) Matching
(c) Assertion and Reasoning
(d) True and False

| Paper – II: Specific Subject | 100 Questions two marks each | Time Allowed: 2 Hours |
The General Paper exam is used to assess the general knowledge and aptitude of the candidates, while the Subject specific exam is used to assess the applicant’s knowledge of the subject for which he or she applied.
Candidates who pass both examinations are deemed eligible for recruitment as Asst. Professors of the Universities and Colleges of the State of Gujarat.

The application fee for Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) is:
General Category, OBC (Non-creamy layer) and General (EWS): Rs. 900/-
For SC/ST/Third Gender: Rs. 700/-
PWD (PH/VH): Rs. 100/-
Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) is are as follows:
a) Applicants must have a Master’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
b) Candidates in the final year of their qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
c) The minimum marks required in Master Degree examination is 55% for general category candidates including EWS and 50% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/PH/Third Gender candidates.
d) Candidates who have completed their qualification through distance/correspondence mode are also eligible to appear for the Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) exam.
e) Candidates with M. Phil degree or equivalent are also eligible to apply.
f) Candidates with a Ph.D. degree are eligible for direct recruitment.
g) There is no upper age limit for eligibility for applying for Assistant Professors.
