West Bengal SET Introduction
West Bengal SET (WB SET) examination conducted by The West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) for the purpose of determining the eligibility of candidates for recruitment as Asst. Professors in various Universities and Colleges of West Bengal. The exam is normally conducted in the month of January/February every year.

Scheme of test
It is conducted in once every year. The Test will consist of two papers. All the two papers will have only objective type questions of the following forms:
(a) Multiple Choice
(b) Matching
(c) Assertion and Reasoning
(d) True and False
Paper – I: General Paper | 50 Questions two marks each | Time Allowed: 1 Hour |
Paper – II: Specific Subject | 100 Questions two marks each | Time Allowed: 2 Hours |
The General Paper exam is used to assess the general knowledge and aptitude of the candidates, while the Subject specific exam is used to assess the applicant’s knowledge of the subject for which he or she applied.
Candidates who pass both examinations are deemed eligible for recruitment as Asst. Professors of the Universities and Colleges of West Bengal Only.

West Bengal SET Exam Application Fees
The application fee for West Bengal State Level Eligibility Test (WBSET) is:
General Category: Rs. 1,200/-
OBC (Non-creamy layer) and General (EWS): Rs. 600/-
For SC/ST/PWD: Rs. 300/-
West Bengal SET Exam Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for West Bengal State Level Eligibility Test (WBSET) is as follows:
a) Applicants must have a Master’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
b) Candidates in the final year of their qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
c) The minimum marks required in Master Degree examination is 55% for general category candidates including EWS and 50% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates.
d) Candidates who have completed their qualification through distance/correspondence mode are also eligible to appear for the West Bengal SET exam.
e) Candidates with M. Phil degree or equivalent are also eligible to apply.
f) Candidates with a Ph.D. degree are eligible for direct recruitment. They are eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.
g) There is no upper age limit for eligibility for applying for Assistant Professors.
